Cookie Policy

This policy explains what this website stores on your device, why, and how long it stays. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers what we do with personal information more generally.

The short version: this site sets no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies at all, so there is nothing here that follows you between visits or across other websites. That is why you are not asked to make a cookie choice when you arrive.

What a cookie is, briefly

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, so that something can be remembered between one page and the next. The law also covers anything else stored on or read from your device in the same way, such as local storage, so this policy uses cookie to mean all of it.

The rules distinguish between storage that is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for, which does not need your permission, and everything else, which does. Everything on this site today falls into the first group.

What is stored

Strictly necessary only. There is nothing on this site that needs your consent.

Cloudflare security and performance. Our host may set a small number of cookies to serve the site, keep it available and tell real visitors apart from automated traffic. They do not identify you and they are not used for tracking or advertising. Typically these last from the length of your visit up to about a month.
Your cookie choice. If a choice is ever offered on this site, the answer you give is stored in a cookie named certa_consent for 182 days, so you are not asked again on every page. It records what you chose, when, and which version of this policy you were shown. Nothing else. It is set only if you answer, and today there is nothing to answer.

What is not here

This list is longer than the one above, and it is the useful part, because most sites cannot say it.

No Google Analytics, and no analytics of any other kind.
No Google Tag Manager or any other tag container.
No advertising, remarketing or conversion pixels. Nothing from Meta, LinkedIn or Google Ads.
No session recording or heatmap tool.
No chat widget, and no embedded map or video.
No fonts loaded from anyone else's servers. Our fonts are served from this site, which matters because loading a font from a font provider would disclose your IP address to them before you had agreed to anything.
No social media buttons that load code from the platform. The links in our footer are ordinary links and set nothing until you follow them.

The forms on this site

The enquiry and support forms do not send anything to a server, and they set no cookies. When you press send, the details are placed into a new message in your own email program and you send that message yourself. There is more detail in our Privacy Policy.

If this changes

If we add anything that is not strictly necessary, such as website analytics, this policy is updated first and a cookie banner appears asking you before it loads. Nothing non-essential will run on the basis of you having visited, scrolled or ignored a message.

You would then be able to change your mind at any time using a Cookie settings button in the footer of every page, and turning something off deletes what it set.

Controlling cookies yourself

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can do that whether or not a site offers its own controls. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of a site working, though on this site there is very little to break.

We review this policy at least once a year, and whenever we add or remove anything that stores information on your device. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
